The Troy Police Department arrested Demon Jerome Cooks, 21 of Troy, December 20, 2017. Cooks was arrested for Obstructing Governmental Operations which is a class A misdemeanor.
Officers were investigating a report of a robbery in the 200 block of Elba Highway when they made contact with Cooks running on foot near Park Street and Thompson Street. Cooks was wearing the same clothing as the suspect description in the robbery.
As officers attempted to talk with Cooks he ran between two houses and fled toward South Brundidge Street. After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was caught and taken into custody where he was positively identified as Demon Jerome Cooks.
During the investigation, it was determined that it was not an actual robbery but a domestic dispute over property that Cooks allegedly took from the caller, who is Cooks girlfriend. The property was recovered after Cooks was taken into custody and the caller refused to sign warrants on Cooks.
Cooks was placed in the Troy City Jail for Obstructing Governmental Operations. Cooks was later released from the Troy City Jail on a signature bond into the waiting arms of the Bullock County Sheriff’s Department for an unrelated charge of receiving stolen property.
