Olin Laney

Olin Laney, 79 of Troy, Alabama, died Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at his home surrounded by family.
Olin was born September 28, 1938 in Ariton, Alabama to the late Homer and Donnie (Gundy) Laney. He was preceded in death by his seven brothers.
After attending Ariton High School, Mr. Laney served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1958. He would later open Laney Auto Service in Troy, AL where he spent 50 plus years repairing cars and building friendships.
Mr. Laney was a dedicated family man who loved watching and playing with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and took great pride in working in his yard.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Margene Laney; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Ray Bennett; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Bill Wood; son and daughter-in-law, Keith Laney and Regina Hendrix; grandchildren, Amy (Jarred) Brunson, Emily (Neil) McClenny, Christopher (Samantha) Wood, Courtney (Stan) Kindred, Chelsea Wood, Jake Laney, Justin Laney; great-grandchildren, Laney Brunson, Emma Grace McClenny, Ryleigh McClenny, Hadleigh Wood, and Parker Wood. Active pallbearers will be Christopher Wood, Jake Laney, Justin Laney, Neil McClenny, Jarred Brunson and Stan Kindred.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Rascoe and Christopher Wood officiating. Burial will follow at the Ebenezer Cemetery in Banks. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
