Dr. John Jinright, TAC presenter chair, said Cowan has toured the world and has done commission work for many noted artists.

As a graduate of both the Julliard and Eastman schools of music, Cowan is nothing short of an accomplished musician and performer, Jinright said.

Cowan has built an impressive career as a classical pianist. His concert will feature a variety of works including Chopin, Debussy and Gershwin.

“The Troy Art Council has presented Dr. Cowen in concert at the Claudia Crosby Theater before and those who have heard him will remember him and certainly want to hear him again,” Jinright said. “Dr. Cowan taught a master class at Troy University and has performed for elementary students.

“Dr. Cowan is retired but he keeps his fingers and his mind fresh. He will contact us to say he is ready to come back to Troy and we welcome him with open arms.

“We invite the community to join the Troy Arts Council in welcoming Dr. Cowan back to Troy. The Johnson Center for the Arts is a wonderful venue for this event and we are looking forward to a night of wonderful classical music.”
