Genie Mae Ellis, age 95 formerly of Brundidge, died Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Arbor Springs Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Opelika, AL. She loved her family and friends and lived her life as a testament to Jesus Christ her Savior. Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Springfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Baggett officiating. Interment followed in the Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing. Visitation was held Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in law, Karen and Richard “Dicky” Carter of Auburn; daughter-in-law, Betty Weeks (J.L.) of New Brockton, AL; sister, Ethel Graves of Phenix City, AL; 5 grandchildren, Mark Ellis (Sandy) of Enterprise, AL, Scarlett Sullivan (Scott) of Lizella, GA, Grant Carter (Amanda) of Vestavia, AL, Heath Carter (Meggie) of Auburn, AL, Kristen Meadows (Randell) of Auburn, AL; 14 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Ellis, Zachary Ellis, Mary Beth Ellis, Matthew Ellis, Dayne Sullivan, Eli Sullivan, Saige Sullivan, Nolan Sullivan, EllisCarter, Morgan Carter, Charlie Carter, Vivi Carter, Carter Mae Meadows, and Adaline Meadows; great-great grandson, Paxton Denney; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Ellis; son, Larry Ellis; brothers, Arthur Fleming, Samuel Fleming; and sister, Lorene Tew.

Pallbearers were her grandsons and great-grandsons.
