Mrs. Mildred Frances Childs of Troy left this world on Thursday, August 3, 2017 to be with the Lord and her loved ones who went before her. She was 81. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy with Chaplain Eric Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Williams Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held Saturday at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until service time. She was born July 10, 1936 in Pike County Alabama to the late Robert and Ruby Kilpatrick Tillery. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mildred Charlene Childs, husband, Charles Winfred Childs, sister, Leoma Gibson, six brothers-in-laws, Lonnie Valentine, Jack Childs, Ben Griffin, Frank Gorman, J.W. Childs and Joe Gibson, and two sisters-in-law, Margaret “Peggy” Childs and Margie Valentine. She is survived by her children, Huey Childs (Sharon), Goshen; John Robert “Robby” Childs, Frances Sherlene Garney, Charles Thomas Childs and Angela Faye Shivers all of Troy; grandchildren, Amy Childs (Joseph Russell), Goshen; Jonathan Garney, Troy; Sabrina Garney, Troy; Alex Childs (Shawnee Helms), Goshen; Kaitlyn Austin Edwards, Tiffany Shivers and Blade Shivers, all of Prattville; great grandchildren, Isabell Russell and Kaylee Helms, both of Goshen; Charla Edwards, Prattville; Charles Garney and Wyatt Garney, both of Troy; and one unborn great grandchild, Prattville; sister, Christine Griffin, Troy; sisters-in-law, Voncile Childs, Brundidge; and Dorothy Gorman, Troy; and several nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be David Gibson, Mark Gibson, D.J. Gibson, Bobby Griffin, John Griffin, Eddie Woodham, Cruz Corley and Bobby Poe. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons. Memorials may be made to Williams Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund.
