The LifeSouth bus will be parked at the Troy Police Department Thursday for the department’s semi-annual blood drive.
“This is something we do about every six months to try to reach out to the community,” said Wayne Floyd, captain of special operations. “We’re usually pretty successful; they keep wanting to come back. They set a goal of getting so many pints and we usually reach it.”
The LifeSouth bus will be parked in the court parking lot below the police station from 9 a.m. Thursday to 5 p.m.
Those that go out to give blood will receive a recognition item and have the option of getting a free cholesterol reading.
Those giving blood must be 16 or older and weigh at least 110 pounds. 16-year-olds need written consent from a parent or guardian to participate. A photo ID will be required.
