The sky over Troy and much of Pike County will be lit up tonight with bursts of red, white and blue as citizens celebrate America’s independence.
The City of Troy is once again holding it’s annual Fourth of July fireworks show, offering more fireworks this time than in recent years.
“The Fourth of July fireworks show is a way our city can celebrate in a traditional and historic way that has been celebrated for many, many years,” said Dan Smith, director of Troy Recreation. ”We’re thankful for the opportunity to provide this to the citizens of Troy and Pike County.”
The show will begin at approximately 9 p.m., Smith said, and will last between 15 and 20 minutes.
Prime viewing for the show is at Troy University’s Veterans Memorial Stadium, which will be open for free to those wanting to watch the show. Other locations Smith suggest were the Troy University campus and along Elm Street.
Smith said the fireworks can be viewed from other locations around Pike County as well and that many people have traditional areas they prefer to view the show from.
