A Troy man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a home burglary that took place in December of last year.

Police arrested Willie Starks, 54, on charges of third-degree burglary Wednesday after police said DNA evidence linked him to the scene.

The burglary took place at a residence in the 100 block of Park Street, where officers arrived and found forced entry, said Troy Police Chief Randall Barr.

“Investigators processed the scene and collected physical evidence that was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for analysis,” Barr said. “Starks’ DNA was obtained through this process and a warrant was issued for his arrest on June 7.”

Starks was arrested later that same day at approximately 2:40 p.m.

Starks was booked into the Pike County Jail on $2,500 bond.

Burglary third degree is a class C felony.
