Troy native named Alabama’s ‘Blind worker of the year’

Mr. Jeff Lang received the 2017 Alabama Industries for the Blind’s Peter J. Salmon Direct Labor Employee of the Year Award and was honored at the annual Blind Worker of the Year Luncheon on Friday, May 12, 2017.
National Industries for the Blind created the Peter J. Salmon Direct Labor Employee of the Year Award in 1968 to recognize outstanding performance and leadership by employees of AbilityOne agencies who are legally blind.
Jeff Lang is being recognized for his contributions to Alabama Industries for the Blind and for his selection as the Peter J. Salmon Direct Labor Employee of the Year for 2017.
Jeff attended public school in Troy, Alabama and then attended the Helen Keller School of Alabama where he graduated in 1992 and joined Alabama Industries for the Blind in 1993 and contributes to the success of AIB’s paper conversion department in which he works.
Jeff executes his duties as a production worker while making substantial contributions to the continued operation and growth of the organization, and is committed to exhibiting the highest standards of excellence, dedication, creativity and skills.
Jeff has shown outstanding performance in his work, social and religious activities and as a contributing member of his community.
Jeff attends Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Talladega, Alabama, and he is a member of the Alabama Council of the Blind.
Jeff will travel to Arlington, Virginia in October to represent Alabama Industries for the Blind at the 2017 National Industries for the Blind / National Association for the Employment of People Who Are Blind National Conference and Expo.
