The Alpha Delta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa recently made two donations to Sav-A-Life Women’s Life Center in Troy, which is the chapter’s ongoing project for the 2016-2018 biennium.
The chapter sponsored a painting class at Park Memorial United Methodist Church with 40 participants. Proceeds from the painting class totaled $400 and were donated to Sav-A-Life. The chapter also donated $300 in chapter funds to the local Sav-A-Life.
Kaye Jinright, altruistic chair, said the Alpha Delta Chapter realizes the importance of Sav-A-Life and its commitment to the community.
“Sav-A-Life is our chapter’s altruism project for 2017-2018,” Jinright said. “The painting class was an opportunity to bring people together to create signs for their homes and for a time of fellowship. The purpose was to raise funds to support the Sav-A-Life organization that does so much good here in Troy and Pike County.
Jane Ward, Sav-A-Life executive director, said she appreciates everything Alpha Delta Chapter does in support of Sav-A-Life and everything the organization stands for.
“The chapter members are with us every step of the way in our efforts to help our community in one way or the other,” Ward said.
Sav-A-Life in Troy provided services to 1,200 people during the year 2016.
“Sav-A-Life provides a variety of service to our clients,” Ward said. “Those services include free pregnancy tests and counseling, medical referrals, other agency referrals as needed and prenatal and parenting classes.”
Dorothy Howard at the Pike County Extension Office also facilitates a nutrition class at the Sav-A-Life center.
“We are here for a variety of needs and unplanned pregnancies are big needs,” Ward said. “We pray with our clients and assist them in every way we can. We are here for that baby, too.”
The Sav-A-Life Women’s Life Center is located at 523 South Three Notch Street in Troy. For more information, call 334-566-2880.
