Local attorney Virginia Green Nowling is pleased to announce her candidacy for District Court Judge and will run on the Republican ticket. The GOP primary is scheduled for June 5, 2018. “I love Pike County and its citizens. I would be honored to serve as its District Judge and have an opportunity to build upon the strong legacy that Judge Hightower has established here,” said Nowling. Virginia describes herself as “tough, but compassionate” and expresses a deep desire to make a “positive impact on our community.”
Virginia is a proud native of Troy and the daughter of Burton and Judy Green (father deceased). She is married to Blake Nowling, a Senior Conservation Officer with the state. Virginia is a 1987 graduate of Charles Henderson High School. She graduated from Auburn University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English. Virginia went on to receive her juris doctorate (J.D.) from Jones School of Law, and began practicing law in 1995. She has gained a wealth of legal experience over the past 22 years, serving as an Assistant District Attorney in Russell County and as a clerk for the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals, all before entering private practice full-time. Virginia currently focuses on the areas of Criminal and Family Law, which gives her strong insight on the needs and responsibilities of the District Court in Pike County.
