Ozark woman dies after being struck by car in Pike County

An Ozark woman was killed when a vehicle struck her while she walked along Alabama Highway 87 Friday night.

Jessica Ann Ruiz, 32, was walking the roadway around 10 p.m. Friday five miles south of Springhill when she was struck by a 2016 Hyundai Tucson according to Alabama State Troopers. Ruiz was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Hyundai remained at the scene and was not injured. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.

A single-vehicle crash at 9:55 p.m. Friday, April 7, has claimed the life of an Ozark woman. Jessica Ann Ruiz, 32, was killed as she walked in the roadway on Alabama 87, five miles south of Springhill. Ruiz was struck by a 2016 Hyundai Tucson and was pronounced dead at the scene.
