Barr said that the police department is not sure what caused the man’s death.

“Right now, we don’t know what happened,” Barr said. “We were called over to find the body of a deceased male found inside the residence. We’re treating it as a crime scene because we don’t know the cause of death.”

Officers  raked through the home and collected anything that might provide clues as to the man’s death, Barr said. The body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

The Troy Police Department is being assisted in this investigation by the Pike County District Attorney’s Office, the Pike County Coroner’s Office and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

This is an ongoing investigation and updates will be provided as information becomes available.
