The Troy Police Department is investigating the death of a man found at a residence in the 100 block of Daisy Court Monday morning.

Police Chief Randall Barr said that the police department is not sure what caused the man’s death at this time.

“Right now, we don’t know what happened,” Barr said. “We were called over to find the body of a deceased male found inside the residence. We’re treating it as a crime scene because we don’t know the cause of death.”

Barr said the man has been identified and the department is working to notify next of kin before releasing his identity publicly. The man was a 65-year-old black male.

The department raked through the home and collected anything that might provide clues as to the man’s death, Barr said. The body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
