Pike BOE rejects bids for center

The Pike County School Board held a called meeting Monday to consider the bids for the construction of the system’s Center for Advanced Academic and Accelerated Learning.

Dr. Mark Bazzell, superintendent of Pike County Schools, said the bids came in above budget and his recommendation was to reject the bids and rebid the project after spring break.

“The bids exceeded our budget and the best course of action was to rebid the project in three or four weeks,” Bazzell said. “We are committed to the project but we want to do something we can afford to do. We’ll look at the project to see what we can do to modify the plans and get within the budget.”
