Elbert J. White, 92, of Hattiesburg died Monday, February 13, 2017 at the MS State Veterans Home in Collins. Services will be Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church followed by burial in Highland Cemetery. Mr. White graduated from the University of Alabama in 1949 where he was a member of the SAE fraternity. He was an Alabama and Southern Miss fan and a supporter of Troy University. Mr. White served 3 years in the Army Air Corps where he played in the service band. In 1950 Mr. White went to work for GMAC Financial Services where he retired after 35 years as branch manager. After his retirement he worked for Trustmark Bank for 9 years. He was a member of the Kiwanis club for over 50 years where he served as president and lieutenant governor. He was a supporter of the Red Cross and the Salvation Army. He was an animal lover and loved fishing and spending time with his family at his lake house in Purvis. Mr. White was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Jimmie N. White and his brother, Cullen White. He is survived by one daughter, Linda (Billy) White Brunt of Madison; one son, Jeffrey Bruce (Charlotte) White of Hattiesburg; three grandchildren, Jordan Lewis Brunt of Madison; Anna-Claire White of Madison and Charles Jeffrey White of Hattiesburg; one great-grandson, Mason Stanley Brunt of Madison; one nephew, Danny White of Ozark, AL and one niece, Rowena Lisk of Sidney, Australia. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30 till service time at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church.
