Brundidge PD makes arrest in sugar theft

The Brundidge Police Department made two arrests on Wednesday.

Brundidge Police Chief Moses Davenport said Willie Fred Jones, 57, of Ozark was arrested in reference to theft of property 1st degree. “The theft occurred at Southern Classic Food Group in Brundidge,” Davenport said. “Large amounts of sugar and oil were taken. A theft of over $2,500 carries felony charges. This theft was more than $2,500.”

Davenport said Jones was placed in the Pike County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

Also arrested on Wednesday was Willie Frank Griffin, 59, of Brundidge. Davenport said Griffin was arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, crack cocaine. “The incident occurred on Hardshell Road in Brundidge,” Davenport said. “Griffin was placed in the county jail on a $1,500 bond.”
