The new year is underway and Pike County Probate Judge Wes Allen said his office continues to focus on providing the best service to Pike County residents, including several options available for car tag renewals.

There are four options available for residents renewing their car tag. Those choices include; in-person renewals at the Pike County Courthouse; in-person renewals at the probate satellite office in Brundidge available the third Tuesday of each month; on-line renewals; and mail-in renewals.

“We respect our customers’ time and want to give them multiple options to renew their automobile tags,” said Judge Allen. “Our team has worked extremely hard to increase efficiency and make it easier for the public to conduct business in the probate office.”

Allen also announced as of Jan. 2, 2017, the probate office will no longer charge customers a service fee on credit or debit card transactions.

“We are excited about this announcement,” Judge Allen said. “I anticipate more people will utilize the easy, online renewal system. One of our goals is to increase the number of online tag renewals in 2017.”

For those planning to purchase a new vehicle in 2017, Judge Allen reminds residents that state law mandates the name on the vehicle title must match the name on the customer’s valid driver’s license. Before registration can occur, the customer must also prove the vehicle has valid insurance as well.
