Local government leaders will be speaking Wednesday at the Pike County Chamber Legislative Breakfast at the Troy Country Club.

The breakfast will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning in the dining room of the Troy Country Club and will feature Mayor Jason Reeves of Troy, Mayor Isabell Boyd of Brundidge, Mayor Darren Jordan of Goshen, Mayor Lisa Culpepper of Banks and County Commission Chairman Robin Sullivan as speakers.

Donna Horn, chair of the legislative committee for the chamber, said that the event gives Pike County citizens the chance to hear their leaders talk about what’s coming for their communities.

“It gives our citizens a chance to hear their leaders talk about what happened in 2016 and their vision for 2017,” Horn said.

Each political leader will have about 10 minutes to update citizens on the state of things in their community and what to expect in the coming months.

“It’s sort of like the State of the Union address for our local communities,” added Chamber President Kathy Sauer.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions during the approximately hour-long breakfast.

The panel this year includes two new mayors in Boyd and Jordan and also a new commission chair as Sullivan was voted into the role shortly after the election.

Residents can attend the breakfast buffet for $15 by sending an RSVP to the Pike County Chamber of Commerce. To RSVP, call 334-566-2294 or email info@pikecoc.com
