Alice Hall Renfroe

Alice Hall Renfroe, age 85, resident of Columbus, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at her residence.  Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, 3 p.m.  Private interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be James Popwell, Ricardo Garcia, Raymond Grimes, Breet Popwell, Marcel Richard, Jon Rabren, Samuel Bassett, Tyler Rabren, Cade Rabren, and Jason Grimes. The family will receive friends at the St. Elmo Room of the funeral home on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. 

Mrs. Renfroe, daughter of the late Horace Lorimer Hall and Anna Clyde Tyler Hall, was born May 4, 1931 in Troy, Alabama.    

Mrs. Renfroe was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Dewey Renfroe, Jr.  Alice and Dewey met at what was then Troy State Teachers’ College and were married 59 years.  She will always be remembered as a fiercely loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Renfroe was also preceded in death by a sister, Sara Hall Ingram. She is survived by three daughters, Marie Renfroe Popwell and her husband James of Montgomery, Alabama, Cynthia Renfroe Garcia and her husband Ricardo of Columbus, and Kelly Renfroe Grimes and her husband Raymond of Milledgeville, Georgia; one sister, Mary Hall Stetson of Cle Elum, Washington;  six grandchildren, Breet Popwell, Victoria Popwell Rabren and her husband Jon, Lindsey Popwell Richard and her husband Marcel, Ashley Garcia Bassett and her husband Samuel, Robyn Grimes Register and her husband Randal, and Jason Grimes and his wife Nicole; nine great-grandchildren, Tyler Rabren, Olivia Rabren, Cade Rabren, Finley Richard, Elizabeth Bassett, William Bassett, Logan Register and his wife Blair, Elin Grimes, and John Lane Grimes; one great-great- granddaughter, Brenleigh Register; many other relatives and friends.
