C&H Auto Sales donated canned goods and $500 worth of cash to the Pike County Department of Human Resources (DHR) to help local families in poverty this Thanksgiving.

The food drive was the first food drive for the business, and will be followed up by their first annual bike and toy drive on December 9.

The goal is to hold both events annually according to owner Darryl Caldwell.

Whaley Sanders and Sips on the Square are partnering with the business to host the new charity drive.

Caldwell, alongside “right-hand man” and general manager Morris Rivers, spearheaded the event in an effort to help the local DHR.

April Snyder, supervisor for the Pike County DHR, was on hand to accept the generous donation.

There are on average 100 children in either foster care or protective services in Pike County according to Snyder.

Rivers has been working to help the Coffee County DHR through various chairty opportunities for 10 years.

The bike and toy drive will be held December 9 at 3 p.m. at C&H Auto Sales with food provided by Sips on the Square. C&H Auto Sales is located at 200 Old Highway 231 North.
