A Christmas Elf delivered the message Tuesday that Santa Claus will visit the Troy Public Library on December 6 to hear the Christmas wishes of all little boys and girls.
Teresa Colvin, children’s librarian, said she is excited that Santa will visit the library again this year for “Christmas Stories with Santa.”
“Santa and his elves have been very busy in the workshop getting toys ready for all the good little boys and girls,” Colvin said. “The reports from Santa’s elves are that most boys and girls have been especially good this year. So, we have a fun night planned for Santa’s visit to the library from 6 until 8 p.m. on December 6.
Santa’s hopes are that books will be on all the wish lists because reading is one of his favorite things to do, especially on cold, winter nights.
Santa is bringing his favorite book, “The Night Before Christmas” to read to the children.
“And, we’ll have lots of Christmas books for parents to read to their children while they wait for their visit with Santa,” Colvin said. “The children will get to make an ornament or other holiday craft to take home as a remembrance of their visit with Santa.”
Parents are invited to bring their cameras to capture those special memories of Santa’s visit.
Colvin said she joins Santa in encouraging parents and children to visit the library and select books for their reading enjoyment during the holidays.
“The children’s library has a large selection of Christmas books to choose from as well as favorite books for all ages,” Colvin said. “The Dinosaur books by Jane Yolen are very popular.
“Boys enjoy Rick Riordan’s ‘Hero’ books and Lincoln Peirce’s “Big Nate’ books. Of course, girls like the ‘Pinkalicious’ books.”
Bil Lepp’s “The King of Little Things” is a great book,” Colvin said. “He is a popular storyteller who has been at the Pike Piddlers Storytelling Festival. The Troy Public Library also has a large selection of holiday movies from “A Christmas Story” to “A Christmas Carol,” that can be checked out. There is a movie for just about any interest.”
“Christmas Stories with Santa” is annual event at the Troy Public Library, which is an open door to the big, wide wonderful world of everything.
