M. Douglas Mims age 84 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. He was preceded in death by daughter, Regina Dawn Mims and his brother, Robert A. Mims, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Mims; daughter, Paula Bracewell (Robert); son, Dwayne Mims (Regina); grandchildren, Beth Allison Gibson (Scott), Amanda Bracewell Gallatin (Brandon), Matthew Bracewell, Justin and Jessee Mims, Meagan and Brittany Short; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Patton; brothers, Charles Mims (Leta) and Kenny Mims (Betty). He attended University of Southern Mississippi where he played football 1952-1953 seasons. He began his career as an FDIC bank examiner in 1954 and remained in the banking industry working as Vice President for Central Bank and Trust Company in Birmingham, AL, Superintendent of Banks for the State of Alabama, President of City Bank of Childersburg, President and CEO of Troy Bank and Trust Bank where he retired in 1999. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 1-2 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home with funeral services following at 2 p.m. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery. Prior to his passing, Doug wanted to recognize Diane Aman, Judy Chancey, and Gayla Kinney as well as all the employees, past and present, as honorary pallbearers. He loved working with each and every one at Troy Bank & Trust. He is now with his Lord in heaven.
