The Charles Henderson High School theater class and the Culinary Arts Academy will partner to present A Dinner and a Show Thursday night at the CHHS Cafetorium.

The audience will dine on a three-course dinner that will be a culinary delight while they enjoy the stage show presented by 25 talented and enthusiastic student performers.

Judith Park, theater teacher, said the theater class presented a similar event a couple of years ago, so Thursday night’s event won’t be the second annual. However, dinner and show performances are popular and plans are to make the event an annual affair.

“The performance is a sneak-peek at the show the theater class will present Saturday at the district theater competition in Opelika,” Park said. “Ours will be a variety show of solos, duets and monologues and will be entertaining for all ages.”

The culinary arts students are preparing a dinner that was planned with a theater audience in mind.

“The students will prepare and served the dinner,” Park said. “They will begin with a soup, a tomato bisque. The entree will be a chicken breast with a creamed-spinach topping and garlic mashed potatoes and carrots. The dessert will be New York cheesecake.”

Tickets for the Dinner and Show are $25 for adults and $15 for students through high school age. Reservations may be made by calling 334-566-3510. Tickets may be paid for at the CHHS office or at the door. Showtime is 6 p.m.

Seating for Dinner and Show will be limited to 100 so those planning to attend are encouraged not to delay in making reservations. No tickets will be sold for the performance only.

“The idea is for the audience to enjoy dinner while also enjoying the show,” Park said. “We hope everyone will come out and join us for the dinner and a show.”
