The Troy Police Department has identified a man who burglarized Sisters’ restaurant last Wednesday.
Police Chief Randall Barr said that he believes they have identified the culprit that was caught on surveillance video stealing an undetermined amount of money and a pop-up recreational tent.
“We think we know who it is,” Barr said. “We’re trying to get it to where we can make an arrest on him.”
The suspect forcibly entered the business at approximately 9:30 p.m. according to a report form the police to Central Alabama Crimestoppers.
The video shows a black male with short hair taking the money and tent from the restaurant. According to investigators, the suspect is an older man with grey hair. He was last seen wearing white high-top sneakers with blue around the bottom, khaki pants, a red undershirt and a grey and black pullover shirt.
Barr said that the police department was preparing a release about the burglary on Friday, but that the fatal shooting of a Troy student off-campus on Friday morning took precedent.
Police released a report to Crimestoppers on Monday with photos from the surveillance video asking for the identity of the man and his whereabouts. A successful tip could lead to a cash reward according to the Crimestoppers post.
Barr said that police had an idea of the suspect’s identity before the release, but wanted to be sure. The police now feel confident that they did have the right man, according to Barr.
