Fire ravages old Brantley home

The Banks Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Tuesday at the “Old J. E. Brantley Home.”

The fire began at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday at a home off of County Road 6641 in Banks. The dispatcher referred to the home as the “Old J. E. Brantley home” when making the call.

Hamilton Crossroads Fire and rescue and the Troy Fire Department also assisted at the scene, with Hamilton Crossroads bringing a tanker to supply water.

No flames could be seen from outside the building, and only small portions of the exterior showed fire damage, but smoke could be seen billowing out of holes in the roof and wall.

A radio call at approximately 5:30 p.m. said that the fire was under control.

The Banks Volunteer Fire Chief could not be reached for further comment.
