Lacorey Teague of Troy took first-place in the National Physique Committee (NPC) competition held at the Davis Theater in Montgomery.

But Teague is no stranger to NPC titles. He took second place in the NPC Vulcan Classic, bodybuilding competition held in Montgomery in mid-summer.

However, his most recent title was for first place and the judging was strictly for physique.

Teague, laughingly, said bodybuilding is akin to a beauty contest, while his first place finish was strictly on physique.

“The competition was judged more on the construction-worker kind of look than on ribbons of muscles,” he said. “It was a great feeling to win and it opens doors to other things I would like to do.”

Teague works out several times a week at a local gym and enjoys the challenges of more weights or more reps.

“Some people say working out is boring, but working out is what I do when I get bored,” he said. ‘I like working out. I like the way it makes me feel and I like the way it makes me look.”

And, it’s that “look” that Teague hopes will lead to a career in modeling or, perhaps, even acting.”

“I wouldn’t mind being a fitness model but modeling name-brand clothes would be all right, too. I would like to try acting if I got a chance,” he said. “I have a couple of agencies so I’m hoping to get a chance to get in front of the camera.”

Teague is a graduate of Goshen High School and believes his “country boy” image can work to his advantage as a model.

“I can do a lot of different looks and the more looks you have the more chances you get,” he said.

As for bodybuilding, Teague is not entering any other competitions this year. But he will be a bodybuilder for life.

“If I quit working out, I’d lose my muscle in a hurry,” he said. “I’ll be working out when I’m an old man. And, I think I’ll still enjoy it.”
