“The Wizard of Oz” is the theme for Homecoming 2016 at Pike Liberal Arts School in Troy. Homecoming Week is a time of fun, celebrations and games. The fun began on Monday. The celebration continues throughout the week and will come to an exciting conclusion with the Patriots football game against Glenwood Academy Friday night. As Abigail Garrett, Claire Anne Manning, Reed Jinright, Alissa Jordan and Sid Brown, back row from left, and Daisy Bruce, Jordan Grice and Cathy Stockstill, seated, were traveling the Yellow Brick Road, they met a rusty, disheartened Tin Man. When there’s a fork in the Yellow Brick Road, which is the right road? Pictured below, Shelby Layne Renfroe, left, and Sarah Elizabeth Calhoun were puzzled at which road would lead them to the Land of Oz.

Pike Liberal Arts School is celebrating Homecoming 2016 this week with a variety of fun activities that will culminate on Friday with the Homecoming football game against Glenwood Academy. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Delaney Kervin Stadium.

The Student Government Association and the PLAS varsity cheerleaders chose “The Wizard of Oz” as the theme for Homecoming 2016. Monday Mania Day was an opportunity for the students to dress as residents of the City of the Emeralds. Twisted Tuesday brought out the ticky-tacky side of the students. Today is Wizard Wednesday and it should be magical. On Thursday, the students will wear their PLAS Homecoming shirts and Friday is red, white and blue for the elementary students and dress-up day for high school students.

Thursday will be a big day on campus with a pre-parade PLAS family meal from 5 until 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The 2016 Homecoming Parade will be at 6:15 with a route around campus. The traditional bonfire will be at 7 p.m. followed by a glow-in-the-dark pep rally.
