Troy University’s homecoming game against Georgia State is just two weeks away, bringing with it annual festivities such as the homecoming parade hosted by the Pike County Chamber of Commerce.

Troy students, staff, alumni and parents will come together with the local community to cheer the Trojans on at the parade before they go to cheer them on at the game.

“The parade brings everybody together to show their Trojan Pride,” said Kathy Sauer, president at the Chamber. “It’s exciting because we come out to show appreciation for Troy University, but we also become a part of homecoming activities. There’s a special bond between the university and not just Troy, but all of the cities in Pike County. Troy is an integral part of Pike County.”

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on October 15 at the intersection of Elm Street and South Brundidge Street, moving down Elm into the downtown square. The parade will turn left onto Three Notch Street and continue to Montgomery/Madison Street.

Sauer said all kinds of floats are in the parade, including professional floats and homemade ones. Troy University clubs, fraternities and sororities will participate in the parade, as well as local high school students, city representatives and more.

“It really shows cooperation between a lot of different entities,” Sauer said.

The Troy University SGA and the Homecoming Committee are partnering with the Chamber to host the parade.

The homecoming game against Georgia State will begin at 2:30 p.m.

To participate in the parade, contact the Pike County Chamber of Commerce at 334-566-2294.

“We want people to come out and watch, but we also want people to participate,” Sauer said.
