A male accidentally shot himself in the arm in Shady Grove on Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. at a home off of County Road 1138, according to the Pike County Sheriff’s Department.

Captain Bob Williamson said that the subject accidentally dropped the gun, which grazed his arm and also caused a flesh wound to his side.

The unidentified male was transported by Haynes ambulance to Troy Regional Medical Center for treatment.
