PCBOE votes to sell Shellhorn School building

Upon the recommendation of Pike County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bazzell, the Pike County Board of Education voted Monday afternoon to sell the old Shellhorn school building to Jeffrey Potts of Fredericksburg, Virginia for $27,000. Potts entered the only bid for the old schoolhouse.

Bazzell congratulation three of the board members who have been distinguished by the Alabama Association of School Boards. Dr. Greg Price was elected director of the board’s District 3. Wyman Botts was awarded the AASB academy Master 4th Year and Linda Steed, the Master Honor Roll.

• Approved permission to provide a bus and bus drive to East Central Mental Health Center to take Day Habilitation program to the Peanut Festival Nov. 9 in Dothan.

• Approved permission for an activity bus for Junior Ambassador trips on October 26, November 30 and January 25.

• Approved permission for Holley Davis to attend the Alabama Counseling Association annual Conference, Nov. 16-18 in Birmingham.

• Approved permission for Tracy Arnold to attend the 2016 New Principal’s Conference, Sept. 14 and 15 in Prattville.

•  Approved permission for Seth Wilcox and George Stringer to attend the Alabama SkillsUSA First Annual Chapter Management Institute, Oct. 9-11 in Orange Beach.

• Approved permission for Brooke Terry to attend the Child Nutrition Director’s Fall Conference November 2-4 in Perdido Beach.

In personnel action, the board:

• Approved sick leave for Carolyn Wilson, Sept. 12 through Oct. 31.

• Accepted the resignation for Andres Ramos, music, Pike County Elementary School.

• Accepted the resignation of Natasha Gosha bus driver.

• Accepted the resignation of Gina Brown, sixth grade teacher, PCES.

• Approved voluntary transfer request for Kim Dillard, English teacher, Goshen High School to librarian GHS.

• Approved employment of Rebecca Mosley, English teacher, Goshen High School.

• Approved employment of John Rodgers, maintenance worker.

• Approved the voluntary status for Payton Linzey, PCHS.
