Davenport withdraws from mayor’s race

Michael Davenport was the last candidate to enter the Brundidge mayoral race and is now the first to exit.
Davenport qualified as late as a candidate possibly could, walking in just 20 minutes before the qualifying deadline Tuesday to enter his name into the race. Just two days later, Davenport officially withdrew from the race.
Davenport could not be reached for comment about his withdrawal.
The six candidates remaining in the race are Isabell Boyd, Jamie Powell, Charlie Harris, Johnny Ross, Lawrence Bowden and Cynthia Pearson.
Current Mayor Jimmy Ramage is not running for reelection to the seat, but is running for the District 4 council seat instead. He is opposed by Byron Gaynor.
