Glenwood, Ala. – Descendants of Richard Whitehead and Rebecca Cox Horn gathered on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at the old Glenwood Schoolhouse for a fun family reunion. More than 65 relatives attended the 114th Annual Horn Family Reunion, held each third Sunday in Glenwood. The Horn Reunion is one of the oldest consecutive family gatherings in the state of Alabama.

Relatives and friends enjoyed a delicious summer buffet with fried chicken and all the trimmings and desserts, fellowship, sharing old family photos and catching up with one another. Some travelled from Panama City, Florida, Wake Forest, North Carolina and Dallas, Georgia as well as all areas of Alabama.

Family members, friends and relatives gathered around 11 am for set up and registration. A brief business meeting was held before lunch, and Rev. Allan Moseley, grandson of Green and Glenda Horn of Luverne provided the family prayer and blessing. Ray Horn, grandson of Ray M. Horn, sheriff of Crenshaw County for many years and Mary Frances Garner, daughter of Frances Horn Boswell shared family announcements followed by special recognitions of oldest living descendant attending the Horn Reunion, and the youngest relative attending the family gathering.
