Brown Bag events in downtown Troy have gained popularity over the years as people of all ages and from all walks of life come together in a spirit of community.

“Any time that our community comes together for a time of fellowship and fun is a good time,” said Willie B. Williams, Troy Tourism Department director’s assistant. “And, we are expecting an especially good time at Brown Bag Thursday at The Studio.”

Williams said Thursday’s Brown Bag will be from noon until 1 p.m. and has been moved from the downtown square to The Studio because of the heat.

“We want everybody to come and enjoy the event and, it’s just too hot to be outside at lunchtime,” Williams said. “We’ve got a great lineup of entertainment including Dorsey Fayson, Christine Barron and other special guests.”

Williams will provide musical entertainment on the piano and “might” join the singers on a song or two.

“Hotdogs, chips and bottled water will be provided and those who would rather bring lunch from their favorite eateries are welcome to do so,” Williams said. “We’ll have tables set up and indoor picnics so it will be a very enjoyable event.

A large number of door prizes have been donated and we’ll draw for those throughout the hour. Brown Bag will be a fun time of food, fellowship, singing and dancing.”

The next Brown Bag will be in August and will kickoff the 2016 football season with appearances by the coaches of local football teams and from Troy University.

Williams expressed appreciation to Rep. Alan Boothe, Troy Mayor Jason A. Reeves and Horn Beverage for their continuing support of the Brown Bag events.

“The Troy Department Public Relations and Tourism Department encourages those who attend Brown Bag events to take advantage of the opportunity of being downtown and visit the downtown shops and restaurants.

“We have a lot going on in downtown Troy and are exciting about the direction our downtown in growing,” Williams said. “We appreciate the strong support for our Brown Bag events and hope everyone will join us Thursday at The Studio on East Walnut Street in Troy.
