He was also a great gardener and small cattle farmer, and he was known by his family and friends for his keen sense of humor.  Walter was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Carlene (Rex) Carlisle and Louise (Max) Briggs, and five brothers, Travis (Mildred) Folmar, Sam Folmar, Phillip Folmar, Presley Folmar, and Hugh Ross Folmar.  He is survived by his wife, Enid Carmichael Folmar, two children, Walter Duncan (Margaret) Folmar, Jr. and Laurianne (Tim) Johnson, five grandchildren, Jonathan Eric (Jessica) Folmar, Beth Folmar (Kevin) Simpson, Matt (Anna) Johnson, Derek Johnson, and Breland Herndon (Lee) Danner, five great-grandchildren, Jon Ross Folmar, Lauren-Olivia Danner, Walter Tate Danner, Creek Bryant Folmar, and Hollis Rebecca Simpson, three sisters-in-law, Leila S. Folmar, Evanell (Dan) Jackson, and Elaine S. Carmichael, and one brother-in-law, Billy W. Carmichael.  Active pallbearers will be Dr. Jack Jackson, Dr. Andrew Jackson, Dr. Douglas Jackson, Dr. Timothy Jackson, Michael Redmon, and David Folmar.  Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Danner, Tom Park, Mickey Starling, Asher Carmichael, Eddie Carmichael, Tim Johnson, and Kevin Simpson.  The family would like to thank caregivers Alice Mae Cowart and Flessia Bell, as well as the staff of Covenant Hospice and Dr. Douglas Jackson, for their excellent care.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Walter’s name to the Glenwood United Methodist Church building fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:30 – 3pm at the church.
