John Andrew Golden

John Andrew Golden, age 90, passed away at his home surrounded by his family Tuesday, July 5, 2016.  He was born to John Layton Golden and Ruby Mitchell Golden in Graceville, Florida in 1925.  He served in the United States Navy from 1943 until he was honorably discharged in 1946.  He owned Golden Auto Parts in Graceville and farmed on the side until 1980 when he sold the store and pursued his passion of farming full time. 

 

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home in Graceville, FL Friday, July 8, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at Damascus Baptist Church in Graceville, FL on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at the Damascus cemetery.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 5083 Hwy. 77, Graceville, FL 32440 or Emerald Coast Hospice, 1330 South Blvd. Chipley, FL  32428.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Palmer Golden, in 2013.  He is survived by his daughter, Margaret (Eddy) Pennington of Troy, AL; two grandchildren, Ashley Pennington (Brad) Glover of Springville, AL and Wesley (Danielle) Pennington of Troy, AL; two great-grandsons, Logan Glover and Colt Pennington; one great-granddaughter, Kyleigh Pennington; one sister, Betty Goodson of Tallahassee, FL; a host of nieces and nephews, and special caregivers Queen McClain and Jean Fowler.  The family would like to thank Dr. Steve Davis and staff, the staff at Doctors Memorial Hospital in Bonifay, FL as well as the staff of Emerald Coast Hospice for the superior care provided.
