Charles F. Orlofsky, 94, of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, Hollidaysburg, PA died Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the home.

He was born Feb 20., 1922 in Shenandoah son of the late Felix and Victory (Labanouskie) Orlosfsky. He married Eleanor M. Walentukiewicz on June 29, 1946 in St. Casimir Catholic Church, Shenandoah.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 70 years, 3 children: Michael and wife Diane of Troy, AL, Charles J. and Wife Sherri of Altoona, PA and Mary Ellen Price and husband Jerre of State College, PA. 2 siblings; John and wife Dolores of Troopers, PA and Adele McGhee of Alexandria, VA. 4 Grandchildren; Rachel, Anna, Elizabeth and Noah

Charles enlisted in the Army Air Corps. in June 1940 and retired Dec. 1960 at the rank of Captain. Serving his country during WWII and the Korean War. After his military retirement he was then employed by the dept. of the Army until July 1977. His final period of civilian employment was with E.T. Everett Monument sales & service in Shenandoah Heights.

He was a member of the former St. Casimir Catholic Church, Shenandoah, Reserve Officer’s Assoc., VFW Post #15040 and American Legion Post #0792. His interest included a love for nature, animals, reading, music, hiking, and the Shenandoah area and spending time with his family. There will be no public visitation, Interment with military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville PA announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Shenandoah Public Library, 15 W. Washington St., Shenandoah, PA 17976. Funeral arrangements are under the directions of Gilden Barton Funeral Home, Altoona, PA .
