The Brundidge Historical Society is hosting a two-day theater workshop for young “folks” ages eight through 13 on Monday and Tuesday, June 27 and 28 at the We Piddle Around Theater in downtown Brundidge.
The theater workshop will be from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. with a culminating performance for family and friends on Tuesday night.
The workshop is being directed by Josh Feemster and Payton Buchin, both Troy University theater education majors.
The workshop is being offered free and space is limited. For more information or to register, call 334-344-9427. The workshop will include storytelling, monologues, character portrayals and activities in keeping with the life and times portrayed in Alabama’s Official Folklife Play, “Come Home, It’s Suppertime,” that is performed April and November at the We Piddle Around Theater.
“Young people have an important role in our folklife play and we enjoy having them,” said Lawrence Bowden, BHS president.
“We also have a growing number of young people in our audiences so we wanted to offer this theater workshop for young people who are interested in the performing arts. The workshop and performance is an opportunity for young people to work with and learn from very talented university theater students and to then showcase what they have learned before an audience.”
The Tuesday night performance of “Young Folks, Just Piddlin’ Around” will be at 7 p.m. and will be open to the public.
Tickets for the “supper theater” will be $5 and will include a hotdog, chips and drink. Reservations may be made by calling 334-344-9427.
