Jensen Garrett, a student at Pike Liberal Arts School, was inspired to host the book drive after attending a leadership conference at Yale University. Her goal was to encourage students to read over the summer break, so she organized a community-wide book drive to collect books for kindergarten and first-grade students at Covenant Christian School, New Life Christian Academy and Goshen Elementary School. Garrett delivered the books last week, having collected more than 200 gently used books and raising more than $150 to purchase new books for the students.
