Frances A. Davenport, age 80, of Troy, Alabama, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, April 11, 2016, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Pastor Calvin Faircloth, Rev. Ernest Green, and Brenda Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Starling Cemetery with Tye Hughes, Drexel W. Hughes, Terry Hughes, Shannon Hughes, Tyler Hughes, and TJ Hughes serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Davenport’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be Sunday, April 10, 2016, from 4 – 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Davenport had an affection for crocheting, all things crafty, and cooking. She was especially famous for her seven-layer chocolate cakes and banana pudding. Mrs. Davenport was a familiar face around town, helping to facilitate the Troy Shrine Club’s flea market, and demonstrating her historic skill set at the Pioneer Museum of Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Emma McLendon Adkinson; her husband of 40 years, Rufus Davenport; grandson, Timothy Green; great-grandson, Blake Green; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Green; and son-in-law, George Johnson. She is survived by her children, Linda Johnson, Louie (Glennis) Davenport, Brenda (Drexel) Hughes, Jill Green, Walter Green, and Vanessa (Jimmy) Ellis; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The family wishes to extend many thanks for the tremendous care and support from the staff of Hospice Advantage.
