The Brundidge Business Association is accepting applications for the 2016 Miss and Little Miss Brundidge Pageant to be held April 16 at the Pike County High School Fine Arts Building.

The deadline for entry is noon on Tuesday.

Kim Stevens, pageant coordinator, said the winners of the Miss Brundidge and Little Miss Brundidge divisions of the pageant will have the opportunity to participate in the National Peanut Festival Pageant in Dothan in the fall.

The pageant has eight divisions beginning with Tiny Miss, ages two to four; Future Little Miss, ages five and six; Little Miss, first grade; Petite Miss, second and third grade; Young Miss, fourth and fifth grade; Pre-Teen Miss, sixth and eighth grade; Teen Miss, ninth and tenth grade; and Miss, 17 to 21 years of age.

“The entry fee for all divisions is 60 dollars,” Stevens said. “The competition for Tiny Miss through Young Miss will be held at 2:30 p.m. on April 16. All other divisions will be at 6:30 p.m.”

Stevens said it is recommended that all divisions, Tiny through Petite wear heirloom dresses.

“Formal evening gowns or ball gowns should be worn by divisions Petite Miss through Miss,” she said. “An interview is required for Little Miss and Miss. Little Miss contestants should wear sporty attire for the interview. Miss contestants should wear a suit, a nice pants suite or a nice Sunday dress.

“We will have an opening number for the 6:30 pageant so contestants should wear a solid color top but not white, flattering jeans and neutral or black shoes.”

All pageant divisions will be judged on stage presence and personality.

Additional categories for optional entry are pettiest eyes, prettiest hair, prettiest smile, prettiest dress and photogenic. Each category is $5 or $20 for entry in all five.

Applications are available at local schools, Troy Bank & Trust, First National Bank and Steed Tire all in Brundidge. Applications may be returned to Dixie Shehane at Troy Bank & Trust, Brundidge location, and First National Bank Brundidge.

There will be a parent and contestant meeting at 6 p.m. April 7 at the First National Bank Annex building. Practices will be at 5:30 p.m. April 12, 14 and 15 at the PCHS Fine Arts Building.
