When BB&T in Brundidge closed its lobby to the public and then limited the drive-thru service to three hours, 2 until 5 p.m., customers began to consider the possibility that BB&T would one day in the near future close its Brundidge branch location.

David R. White, BB&T vice president of corporate communications, confirmed that day will June 9, 2016.

“We know that any decision to close a branch location is an emotional issue for the local community and we are sensitive to the impact it will have on the area,” White said. “Only after extensive analysis did we make the difficult decision to close.”

White said for several years, BB&T has been reviewing the economic vitality of its Brundidge branch at 200 North Main Street.

“Based on several factors, including viability, convenience, physical conditions and client usage patterns, it was decided that we can best serve the area with our banking center in Troy, which is approximately ten minutes away,” White said. “The Brundidge financial center will close on June 9 at 5 p.m. Our Brundidge clients can still take advantage of a number of convenient services including Phone24, online banking at BBT.com or our mobile app.”
