Little girls will turn into princesses tonight thanks to the third annual Princess Ball presented by the Troy Kiwanis Club.
The ball, designed specifically for “little girls and their kings,” invites girls ages 3-10 to come dance and celebrate with their kings (usually their fathers), all the while benefitting an important cause.
Upon arriving at the ball, which starts at 6 p.m. at the Emporium, each girl will receive her own tiara. She’ll be invited to dance to her heart’s content with her king, enjoying plenty of royal food and entertainment.
The cost is $25 per couple.
All proceeds raised from this event will go to Reading is Fundamental, which provides books to children in need. “Children find heroes and inspiration in their favorite stories RIF knows that children find heroes and inspiration in their favorite stories,” said Kenneth Green, Kiwanis member. “Through the joy of reading, books help young girls and boys unlock their imaginations.
“But 16 million children living in poverty in the United States currently lack access to new, high-quality books. In fact, only one in three has books in his or her own home.”
The Kiwanis members, who are dedicated to help children in the Pike County community and throughout the world, hope to change those statistics by raising funds to purchase books for children in need right here in Pike County.
The Kiwanis Club meets the second and last Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Pig Café on North Three Notch Street.
