Griffin celebrates 100 years in January

Ms. Martha Griffin celebrated 100 years on January 19, 2016.
She and her family celebrated her birthday in the large dining room at Troy Health and Rehabilitation Center in Troy where she resides. She was joined by family, friends, residents and staff. Griffin was born in Blount County in the town of Sneed, Alabama. She was a home economics teacher for more than 32 years and taught in different schools in Alabama.
Her interests include sewing, attending church, gardening, traveling, spending time with her family and cooking.
One of the meals that her daughter, Molly Casey, remembers her making was the Sunday meal. It was roast, carrots, onions and potatoes. Molly said everything was cooked separately. She said her mom always made delicious lane cakes and the best pecan pie you ever tasted. Griffin is a member of Salem Baptist Church in Brundidge and is their oldest living member. She is widowed and has two daughters Molly Caseand Anne Searcy.
