The banquet will be catered by Collier’s on Main. Tickets are $15 and are available through noon Thursday at First National Bank, Troy Bank & Trust, Mobley Business and Brundidge City Hall.

Dixie Shehane, BBA president, said 2015 was an eventful year for the Brundidge business community.

“We will take a few minutes at the banquet to look back on the year 2015 and ahead to 2016,” Shehane said. “We will also recognize the Brundidge Police Department for its service to the community. Our police department protects us and keeps us save and we want to show our appreciation to all of those who serve.”

The BBA has embarked on a mural project for the Brundidge Station area. Local artist Amanda Trawick has been commissioned to paint the mural on the back wall of the Brundidge Fire Station. The BBA’s mural committee has approved the artist’s paintings for the mural and those paintings will be available for viewing at the banquet Thursday night.

“The mural will highlight businesses that were located in the Brundidge Station area back in the early 1900s,” Shehane said. “The scenes are of a horse-drawn hearse, a cotton warehouse, a train station, a boarding house and a fire truck. As soon as weather conditions improve so the wall can be pressure washed, Amanda will begin painting the mural. The mural will add interest to the area and also promote the history of our town.”

The Brundidge Business Association sponsors several annual events that bring people to the downtown area including SpringFest, the Independence Day Parade and the Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting. The BBA also sponsors the Miss and Little Miss Brundidge Pageant each year.
