Brenda Lou Hattaway Swanzy , age 54, of Niceville, Florida passed away at her home in Troy, Alabama , Saturday, January 9, 2016. Brenda was a nurse for Hospice Advantage in Troy. She had a lifelong love for geriatric care and devoted most of her life to this.

A funeral service for Brenda Swanzy will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Reverend  Dusty Taylor and Reverend Buck Hudgens officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Church of Christ Cemetery. Green Hills Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Green Hills Funeral Home .

Brenda was preceded in death by her father, William S. Hattaway and mother, Marjorie Penn Hattaway. Survivors include, her daughter, Celiese (Clay) McDougald of Goshen, Al. Sons, 1st Lt. Wesley “Brack” Swanzy, United States Air Force, of Dayton, OH., Heath (Vickie) Swanzy of Troy. One precious Granddaughter, 4 month old Charli Ava McDougald, her Sister and Brother in law, Linda and David Cooper of Pensacola , Fl., Nephew, David (Erika) Cooper of Pace, Florida, Great Nephews , Collin and Connor Cooper, Niece, Christina Cooper of Springfield, Missouri, And her faithful Companion “DOG”.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Miley, Troy Johnson, Carroll Rhodes, Danny Rhodes, Jason McManigle and JJ Farmer. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Goshen High School class of 1979.

In lieu of flowers a fund has been set up to help with the Funeral expenses at Green Hills Funeral Home, 1621 US Highway 29s Troy, Al. 36079
