Martinez, GA—Mr. Michael “Mike” Branum entered into rest
Saturday, January 9, 2016 at his home after his battle with a rare sarcoma cancer.
Michael was born in Memphis, TN. He moved to Martinez, GA in 1986 and graduated from Evans High School in 1989. His love of music was a major part of life and was an avid g
uitar collector. He learned to play at an early age and played in bands with friends. His love of music never faded and was a part of his daily life. He enjoyed going on long runs and bike rides. For the last ten years, Michael was an IT Engineer for Express Scripts in Memphis, TN.
Michael is preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles Branum; grandmother, Ruth Faulkner; and aunt, Jackie McGrady. Survivors include his father, Jim Branum (Debbie);
mother, Rita Sperry (Roger); brother, Leslie Branum; step-brother, Heath Smith; aunts and uncles, Mike Caddell (Angie), Walter Caddell (Pam); grandmother, Jeanna Branum; step-grandfather, Ed Faulkner; and many other family and friends who he touched and loved him dearly.
The family will receive friends, 5:30-7:30pm Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Columbia Road. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Zebulon Baptist Church located in the Sandfield Community at 6153 Alabama Highway 223, Troy, Alabama 36081 with interment following at Sandfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, make memorial contributions to the Amschwand Sarcoma Cancer Foundation, 2726 Bissonnet Street, Suite 240-314, Houston, TX 77005 or sarcomacancer.org. This organization furnishes free housing for sarcoma patients going to M.D. Anderson.
