Florette Davis Stinson, age 94, a resident of Troy, AL passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services for Ms. Stinson will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2015 at 2pm at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 12-2pm at the church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dan Freeman, Brent Barley, Lee Hussey, Bill Henderson, Kurt Henderson, Wade Henderson.Honorary Pallbearers will be the many children she raised and loved & the members of Antioch Baptist Church.
Ms. Stinson was born on May 13, 1921. She held many titles: daughter, sister, niece, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Granny Flo. Those who were blessed to know her would describe her as precious, giving, loving, inspirational, caring, sweet, pleasant, humble, strong, and a woman of God. She devoted her life to taking care of others. She was an amazing woman. Her husband, children and family were the highlight of her life.
She is survived by her children, Martha Freeman, Mike Stinson, Jim and Kaye Stinson;
Grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) Barron, Dan (Kristie) Freeman, Lee Hussey, Kari (Brent) Barley; great-grandchildren, Tyler & Bryant Hussey, Cage & Bailey Freeman, Olivia Barron; sisters, Louise Henderson, Kathleen Gibson and brother-in-law, Damon Brooks.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Frank V. Stinson, her mother and father, two brothers, three sisters, one daughter-in-law and many other loved ones.
