The Pike County Cattlewomen’s 2nd Annual Christmas Bazaar is set for Saturday at Cattleman Park with 65 vendors “in the house.”

The Cattlewomen’s Christmas Bazaar will be from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Admission is $5 for those over the age of 12.

Tammy Powell, Cattlewomen’s publicity chair, said last year’s inaugural Christmas bazaar was such a tremendous success and so much fun “in spite of all the hard work” that the Cattlewomen decided to do it again and again.

“We are excited about the 2nd Annual Christmas Bazaar and so encouraged by the response from the vendors,” she said. “Michelle Long, event chair, has worked long and hard and has a great lineup of vendors with a large variety of items for sale.”

Long said there are too many vendors to name but the booths will include everything from arts and crafts, jewelry, clothing, wreaths and other seasonal items to vacuum cleaners.

The Pike County Cattlewomen will have a booth that will include crafts and sweet treats.

“Debbie Wilson has done an outstanding job of getting our members involved in making items for the bazaar,” Powell said. “This is an opportunity for the Cattlewomen to put their talents on display. We’ll have craft items and handmade ornaments, pies, cakes and candies for now or for later. The bazaar will be a great place to shop for sweet treats to enjoy over the holidays.”

The Christmas Bazaar will also have food catered by the Pig Café available for lunch so shoppers can make a day of it.

“It will take more than a little time to visit all 65 booths so plan to come shop and eat lunch with us and enjoy the fashion show at 11:30 a.m.” Long said. “The show will feature fashions from The Wise Owl and SheBANG Cloggers will perform at 1 p.m. so there will be a lot of things to enjoy.”

Santa Claus will pay a visit to the bazaar and parents are encouraged to bring their children to have their pictures taken with Santa.

“Morgan Graham of Morgan Graham Photography will take children’s pictures with Santa and she does an outstanding job,” Long said. “Morgan is a member of the Pike County Cattlewomen. We are excited to have her participate with us.”

The Cattlemen’s building at Cattleman Park will be all decked out for Christmas and the bazaar will be a festive and fun event.

All proceeds from the Christmas Bazaar will support youth activities in Pike County, including the Cattlewomen’s scholarship program.

“Especially the scholarship program,” Powell said. “Each year, we offer scholarships to students in Pike County. Of course, the Cattlewomen like to promote agriculture but that is not a requirement for the scholarships.”

One thing that is rather unique about the scholarships offered by the Pike County Cattlewomen is that the scholarships are not limited to high school seniors.

“The scholarships are also available to college students because we realize that the expense of college continues,” Powell said. “Those who receive the scholarships may reapply and many of them do. The Pike County Cattlewomen appreciate the opportunity to support young people in their educational endeavors. We are excited to sponsor our 2nd Annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday. We invite everyone to come and enjoy the day with us.”
