The members of the Charles Henderson High School Senior Class delivered Christmas fruit baskets to senior citizens in Troy on Monday.
The Christmas gift bags were assembled on Saturday by Alex Bland, senior class president; Kaylin Riley, class secretary; Anne Claire McNaughton, class treasurer; Cassidy Oswald, Coby Smith, Juantavious Starks and Bradley Blair.
As a CHHS junior, Bland developed the idea for the Christmas fruit basket project and it carried over to his senior year.
“I wanted to do something for our senior adults at Christmastime,” Bland said. “The senior class raises money through different projects and we all agreed on giving gift bags to our senior adults at Christmas. The baskets have fruit and candy Kisses for them to enjoy.”
Bland, McNaughton, Dalton Gross and CHHS Principal Brent Harrison delivered the baskets to Troy Health and Rehabilitation Center, Noble Manor Assisted Living and Troy Nutrition Center Monday morning.
Myra Wilson, a resident of Nobel Manor, said it’s always a blessing to be remembered and especially by students.
“I taught school in Brundidge for a long time,” she told the students.
“It’s always good to see young people and to be remembered by them. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas.”
The students in turn wished Wilson a wonderful holiday season.
Shelia Deveridge, Troy Nutrition Center director, thanked the CHHS Senior Class and Harrison for coming to the center and showing love to the senior adults.
